Vegas and Grand Canyon Trip

Not too long ago, my father flew from Taiwan to spend a week and a half with the family.  Since he knew his time in the US was short, he and I planned a weekend family vacation to the Grand Canyon.  Upon hearing his decision to adventure out there, I was ecstatic! I had never been to the Grand Canyon and neither had I ever gambled!

The second our family deplaned, I sprinted to the nearest slot machine to throw my first quarter.  Low and behold, I won nothing. Typical.  However, throughout the weekend, my father, brother, and I spent quite a few hours in the Bellagio testing our luck at Blackjack tables.  At one point I was up $110 and thought I could steal a few more chips from the dealer, but as most casino trips end, I came out only keeping $60 of the $100 I began with.  Having spent 7 hours in the casino, my father said I had actually done pretty well considering it was my first time gambling and had only began with $100.  I just wish I had listened to myself earlier and stopped. Oh well.

As for photos of the Grand Canyon, I decided to shoot in B&W and see what kind of moods I could get out of the landscape.  Let me know what you think!

Hamlet: Alcatraz Edition

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to attend a sold out Dartmouth Alumni event featuring a jaw-dropping performance of Hamlet on the infamous island of Alcatraz in San Francisco.  The island presented an excellent atmosphere for the play, and having been my first visit to Alcatraz, I couldn't have asked for a better first time.  The actors were amazingly talented, the scenery was gorgeous, and the experience was priceless.

As a special group, we were able to enter restricted areas not open to the general public! Well, here are just a sample of many photos I took (too many to upload).  Enjoy!

Back Again!

After a long break from photography due to many hours of work, classes, and tennis lesson, I finally found some time to get out and take some photos! Having been inspired by one of my friends, Eric Kim, to dip my feet into street photography, I went out to Santana Row a few days ago and attempted to shoot more photos of people.  Let me know what you think about my first attempt at some street photography!
