Mimi & Adam

This past weekend, I had the great pleasure and honor of helping my friend, who is a professional photographer (Patrick Ang), photograph a beautiful wedding.  Congratulations to Mimi & Adam, and I wish them a healthy, prosperous, and joyful future as they embark together on their journey through life!  Here are a few photos from the wedding.  For more photos, please go to my Flickr.

Relaxation At Its Best

Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to upload photos until tonight/ today, however you want to look at it, due to a barrage of midterms and quizzes.  Before this massive attack launched on me, I was able to venture out to Carmel By The Sea with my mother and father for an afternoon of shopping and a hearty dinner.  As my mother meandered through every store (if you know Carmel By The Sea, there a too many to count), my father and I headed down towards the beach.  To our surprise, we managed to find a parking spot RIGHT next to the sand. As we trekked our way down the sandy hill, a pleasant sight had appeared before us.  Hundreds of dogs.  For those of you who know me, you can only imagine how excited I was to meet, play with, and photograph these dogs.

However, as fun as these pooches were, I was on the beach for one sole purpose: to photograph the sunset and the beauty that comes with it.  Soon, I found myself enthralled by the oranges, yellows, and magentas coloring the clouds as if they were black sheets of paper.  With only ten to fifteen minutes of shooting time, my beach experience was over and it was time to head back for dinner, leaving this wonderful experience happier than ever.

Shadow's Pool Visit

Today before I headed out to teach tennis, I brought over our neighbor's black lab, Shadow, to play fetch in our pool.  At first she was hesitant to even touch the water, but with a little encouragement she was soon soaring beyond the pool border with confidence.  With her jumping in and out of the pool and chasing me around, I too became just as soaked as she was.

Bamboo Garden

It's been a while since my last post in December, but I believe I have some images to make up for the lost time.  Today, as I was waiting for my next class, I decided to trek down to a bamboo garden the local community college had grown for the Japanese department.  With the sun JUST setting behind the mountains, a pocket of golden light radiated through the forest.  I couldn't let this opportunity escape.  Having spent a little over an hour losing myself in the beauty of this forest, I decided on a few favorites of the many photographs I snapped.

The idea behind this set was to create a peaceful, Japanese atmosphere in an American setting.  Did you feel more relaxed after viewing the photos? Let me know what you think!

An Ocean of Clouds

Wake up at 4:00am. Arrive at the airport around 5:00am.  Flight at 6:50am. Ready to shoot photos at 6:55am.  As I desperately wait in my seat for take off, I snap off a few practice shots and adjust my white balance.  Once our plane takes off and begins penetrating the clouds, I frantically look around attempting to determine the exact position of the sun and which side of the plane beams of sunlight will begin pouring in from.  Aha! Spotted the sun right infront of me! I ready my camera and snap off one of my best sunset shots on the first try.  Content with  my first shot, I simply sit back, relax, and enjoy my flight over an ocean of clouds.

A Walk In the Rain

Last weekend, my neighbors went out for an afternoon of good 'ol Napa wine tasting, and asked me to watch over their 10 month old black lab, Shadow.  With a whole afternoon to kill, I decided to take Shadow to the railroad tracks, let her off her leash, and roam freely.  I was warned to wear clothes I didn't particularly care about, but wasn't told why.  I soon found out.  The second I launched her ball down the railroad tracks, she bolted straight through the biggest mud puddle I had seen in a while, casting mud all over the place.  As she returned with the ball, she proceeded to do the same thing, but this time coming towards me.  Before I knew it, muddy paw prints were all over my sweatpants.

During our walk, a few light showers came down, which created a great atmosphere to capture some photos as the clouds acted as my diffuser.  I managed to grab a few shots during our walk, at home drying off, and on her bed resting.  Check 'em out and let me know what you think!
